What is Autism?
Autism is a brain development disorder that impairs social interaction and communication, and causes restricted and repetitive behavior, all starting before a child is three years old. To help fight the ravages of Autism, the physicians of the Longevity Centres of America offer the complimentary treatments of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy {HBOT}, Chelation Therapy and Food Allergy Testing. Our treatment program has been developed primarily with safety in mind and our program works in conjunction with traditional Behavioral, Communication and Drug Therapies.
What is ADHD?
ADHD was first described by Dr. Heinrich Hoffman, a physician and poet. In 1845 Dr. Hoffman wrote “The Story of Fidgety Philip” which is the first accurate description of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. The ADHD symptomatic triad consists of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. The symptoms usually appear early in a child’s life, but may persist well into adulthood. We offer Chelation Testing and Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatments to help balance, soothe and refocus the mind.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Autism/ADHD
HBOT has been utilized for the treatment of Autism in many countries worldwide. The results of this therapy are varied, but mostly encouraging. The study by Daniel A. Rossignol and Lanier W. Rossignol provides the scientific verification of what many families have known for years…that HBOT usually benefits the sufferers of Autism.
The Link Between Mercury and Autism
Mark Geier fought for years to have the CDC data release what was supposedly public epidemiological data concerning the skyrocketing rates of autism in the United States. His analysis of the data was published in the March 10, 2006, issue of American Physicians and Surgeons. This analysis shows that since mercury was removed from childhood vaccines, the alarming increase in reported rates of autism and other neurological disorders (NDs) in children not only stopped, but actually dropped sharply – by as much as 35 percent.
Using the government’s own databases, independent researchers analyzed reports of childhood neurological disorders, including autism, before and after removal of mercury-based preservatives. Authors David A. Geier, B.A. and Mark R. Geier, M.D., Ph.D. analyzed data from the CDC’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) and the California Department of Developmental Services (CDDS) in "Early Downward Trends in Neurodevelopmental Disorders Following Removal of Thimerosal-Containing Vaccines.”

Exposure to Heavy Metals, Physical Symptoms, and Developmental Milestones in Children with Autism

Summary: A questionnaire was used to assess heavy metal exposure in the mothers of children with autistic spectrum disorders (ASD) vs. controls. Four exposures were found to be statistically significant, including maternal seafood consumption, oral antibiotic use (which greatly decreases excretion of mercury), adverse reactions to vaccinations (many of which contain thimerosal), and pica (which leads to increased consumption of heavy metals).
Several major physical problems were much more common and severe in the ASD population, including chronic gastrointestinal problems, sleep problems, excessive ear infections, low muscle tone, and excessive salivation/drooling.
Finally, 62% of the children with ASD were reported to have developed normally, with normal developmental milestones, and then had a major regression at an average age of 18 months.

A Case-Control Study of Mercury Burden in Children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders

Summary: This study compared the mercury excretion of 221 children with autism vs. 18 neurotypical children after each group received DMSA (a chelating agent) for 3 days. The children with autism excreted 4x as much mercury, which was highly statistically significant (p < 0.0002). Lead and cadmium levels were also measured, but they were not statistically different. This suggests that children with autism have much higher levels of mercury in their bodies.
