What is Testosterone?

Testosterone is a sex hormone that is famously ascribed to males. The function of Testosterone includes Muscle Development, Secondary Sex Characteristics (low voice, hair growth and the production of sperm). If a male has a low serum testosterone level and exhibits typical symptoms, then he may suffer from Low Testosterone (aka Low T).

Top 10 signs and symptoms of Low T

1) Erectile Dysfunction: Testosterone is responsible for the production of Nitric Oxide, a necessary component to the physiology of erections. When Testosterone levels are low, men may find it difficult to have or maintain an erection.

2) Low Energy: Low T may make a man feel tired, even after 8 hours of sleep. This may result in a decreased desire to exercise or perform routine tasks.

3) Reduced Sex Drive: A diminished sex drive is an assumption with age but when it is associated with a Low T level, it may be reversed

4) Loss of Muscle Mass: As a fact, Low T is known to cause a loss of muscle mass.

5) Loss of Hair: Low T is associated with Male Pattern Balding or Alopecia

6) Depressed Mood: Depression accompanied by lack of focus and irritability are common findings in men with Low T

7) Increased Body Fat: One of the few but undesirable increases associated with Low T

8) Hot Flashes: While these symptoms are classically associated with Women and Menopause, hot flashes in men, or Manopause, is a known occurrence in men with Low T

9) Sleep Disturbances: Insomnia may cause men with Low T to have difficulty either falling asleep or staying asleep

10) Loss of Semen: Testosterone stimulates the production of semen. Reduced Testosterone levels are associated with low sperm count and trouble with fertility
