According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight women in America will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. According to a press release, researchers have found that women who engage in as little as one hour of walking each day could reduce their chances of contracting breast cancer by approximately 14 percent.

"Our results clearly support an association between physical activity and postmenopausal breast cancer, with more vigorous activity having a stronger effect," lead researcher Alpa Patel, Phd, said in the release.

The women who observed this effect maintained a walking pace of three miles per hour, though the scientists noted that the intensity of the workout correlated with a further reduction in breast cancer risk.
